Michael Behr joined the Lackawanna College program in the spring of 2013 as the Offensive Line coach prior to transitioning to Quarterbacks and Specialists coach in 2014. Michael came to Lackawanna from Moravian College where he was an assistant football coach for four years. While at Moravian, his coaching positions included: tight ends / assistant offensive line, quarterbacks, running backs, and wide receivers. Prior to his stint at Moravian College, Michael coached high school football for fifteen years. Those schools include: Pocono Mountain West HS, Tamaqua Area HS, and Mount Carmel Area HS, where he won a Pennsylvania State Championship.
Michael has enjoyed much success in his time at Lackawanna. In 2013, all five of his offensive linemen were named to the NEFC All Conference Team. Since transitioning to his new role, Michael has coached 6 Division I Quarterbacks, including FCS National Champion, Bryan Schor (James Madison). In 2016, Coach Behr helped David Pindell (UConn) break multiple team and conference records, many of which were set by another Behr pupil, Andrew Ford (UMass), the prior year. Mike Dare, a 2018 graduate, moved on Sam Houston State, a perennial NCAA Division 1 Bowl Sub-division powerhouse. In 2019, Shane McLaughlin (Monmouth), finished 5th in the NJCAA in TD passes, as he lead the Falcons to their first 11-0 season in program history.
Behr attended Slippery Rock University where he earned a B.S. in Sport Management / Business Administration. He also holds Master’s Degrees in Education and in Curriculum & Instruction. Michael currently is employed as a teacher in the Pocono Mountain School District.
