2023 was Long’s second season on the coaching staff at Monmouth University and first as Special Teams Coordinators. 2023 saw Long’s units improve 84 spots nationally in Special Teams Efficiency. Monmouth’s 2023 Punt Team was 2nd in the CAA in Net Average, and 17th in FCS in Net Average. Long also mentored a Kickoff Unit that was 10th in FCS in Kick Return Defense, and 1st in the CAA in Net Kickoff.
In 2022 as Special Teams Quality Control, Long mentored 2 All American, and 2 All Conference selections. Long came to Monmouth after spending the previous four years at his alma mater, East Stroudsburg University where he served as the Special Teams Coordinator and Linebackers Coach. During his time at ESU, he mentored five All-PSAC East selections, two All-Region honorees and AP All-America Second Team kicker Jordan Walters.
Prior to his return to East Stroudsburg, Long spent the 2018 season as the Special Teams Coordinator and Assistant Offensive Line Coach at Sayreville High School. Long helped the team to an 11-1 record and a No. 8 ranking in New Jersey.
