Coach Tony Bateman is a native of Norfolk, Virginia. In 2011 his coaching career began At Menchville High School in Newport News, Virginia. After multiple stops in the Tidewater area including his alma mater Deep Creek High School he moved to Mecklenburg County, Virginia. In 2017 he took the Defensive Coordinator job at Bluestone High School and served in that position until 2019. After Covid, he pursued his Masters Degree In education but accepted the Defensive Coordinator job at the newly built Mecklenburg County HS in 2022, a position he still holds.
